Do you think like this?
August 19th, 2009
I have been running a small Glass and Leadlight business in Central Queensland for 28 years now and I’m more than happy to pay $10 for the contact details of someone who is looking for a product like mine. I know my product and I know that I have better service than my opposition. I also know that my price, my guarantee, my materials, and my skills are all better. So why don’t I advertise all this? Besides the excessive cost involved, I’m not the type to blow my own trumpet, although sometimes you have to. I’m happy for my product to speak for itself. Word of mouth has served me well for nearly thirty years.
So why do I see the need to be registered with Best Trade Bid?
I see this as a fair and affordable advertising system. For $10 I get the contact details immediately, of another person that doesn’t know that I exist, or doesn’t have the time to try and find me through the maze of advertising flooding the pages of news papers, phone books and the soporific wall paper called TV.
Wow!! That opens a whole new door of opportunity for me. I imagine this new contact as another advertising agent for me spreading the joy as a satisfied customer. No wonder I have so much work I don’t need to advertise.
I can’t let a new client opportunity slip by. I don’t know how you think, but to me, even though I am flat out with work, I need to talk to potential new clients. Living in regional Queensland, there are potential clients outside my phone book scope, advertising range and budget. Unless they are computer literate having access to the internet, they are not likely to know about my product. As Best Trade Bid grows and promotes it’s free service to people in these regional centers throughout Australia, my service will become more accessible for them, therefore spreading my business to fields previously untapped. I consider the $10 well spent and a good tax deduction. If the inquiring client doesn’t go through with a job, that doesn’t concern me either, I have gained a new contact for my database, so news letters or future sale offers can be forwarded to them. I’m looking for lifetime customers.
Some business owners are a little slow to take on board the way it works and the benefits that come from registration and sure it’s not for every business but I recommend you see how it works and try and think outside the square of traditional advertising. You can list your skills, and services on the Best Trade Bid site at no cost to you. You are given a description of what the client wants and the region in which they require it. You only pay per client when you accept their contact details.
It doesn’t get better than this

Director of Best Trade Bid Pty Ltd, Mark Carpenter, is happy to see stage one of the company’s plan, live on the internet and is pleased with the positive response from all over Australia. Mark said Central Queensland has the people with the knowledge and background experience that is equal to anywhere in Australia. The design of the business was visionary, but workable, and he knew the technology was available, but where to find those in the region who had a good working knowledge of it was the question. It was a relatively new concept in marketing for businesses and provides a futuristic service for people to searching for suppliers of the products and services they need. The expectation was to look outside the country for a web designer, but there was no need to look beyond the front door. The criteria for the designers of the Best Trade Bid site was to make it free to the public, make the most of the latest communication technology, make it simple, fast, user friendly, considering the older generation that don’t generally use computers, and give fantastic value for money to business owners.
After discussing the plan with the helpful staff at the State Development Centre, a local mentor and business advisor was recommended, and the ball was rolling. Mark said, by pulling together a few especially talented people in CQ, and using their knowledge, we have created a seemingly simple service to
- help people find Local, State, National or International products and services, without the need to search through phone directories, and old obsolete business cards, or waste time sifting through the information overload on the net.
- help business get new client opportunities in a cost effective way.
This system is easy to use, but don’t be fooled by its simplicity, it is effective and levels the playing field for small business to compete with the larger businesses. We give businesses a legitimate excuse to contact a qualified buyer. Imagine the spending ability of just one new client. A business owner only needs to register their business details for free and forget about it. There is no joining fee, and no yearly subscription fees, administration fees, or ongoing fees. A business will only pay $10 per client, if a match is accepted by the business. That is cost effective marketing. When the request is submitted that matches the business capabilities, we pass it on. Businesses that are registered have control over their business details and can log on to our site to update details, review job history, see what jobs are still on offer in their area at any given time.
This is excellent for new businesses, businesses that produce custom made products, self employed people, those who don’t have a large advertising budget or don’t advertise in the major phone books. It’s also easy for businesses looking for new providers of their products and services.
The catch phrase to convey the concept is You call us, We’ll call them, They’ll call you.
- The only thing the shopper has to do is provide us with the details of their requirements.
- We contact several businesses registered on our data base that provide that service in the region required.
- The service providers will then contact the buyer directly, to impress them with prompt, professional service and make the best offer they can.
- Then the buyer only has to choose the offer that suits best, dealing directly with the provider.
For me it’s a bit like shopping for the specials at a grocery store by reading through the specials catalogs first and comparing apples with apples. When you think about the process, the only difference is that this is for the products you want, when you want them, usually with a bigger price tag than the weekly groceries. I believe this helps keeps traders honest and fair in their pricing, and puts the customer service back as a priority for businesses, Mark said.
